Our crapfree handmade shampoo bars have been specially created to satisfy the growing demand from our customers who seek natural alternatives to commercial hair care products. Long before fancy bottles and unpronounceable chemicals, our ancestors whipped up soap using simple ingredients like tallow, olive oil, lye, and a sprinkle of elbow grease. This time-honoured craft has been bubbling away for centuries, creating cleansing bars that are as kind to your hair and skin as they are to the planet.

Say "no thanks" to nasty additives like sulfates and parabens – your hair deserves better. We use natural, gentle ingredients that clean without causing chaos on your scalp. Your mane will thank you for it!

We at crapfree believe the key ingredient in these artisanal bars is tallow, known for its nourishing properties, packed with nutrients like vitamins B12, A, D, E, and K, plus Oleic, Palmitic and Stearic fatty acids, it nourishes the scalp and hair from within. These vitamins play a crucial role in maintaining scalp and hair health.

We have combined tallow with other super beneficial oils such as organic cold pressed coconut oil, organic cold pressed olive oil and organic castor oil to give you a luxurious, lathery, moisturising shampoo bar that works magic to leave your locks luscious and your scalp happy.  These same oils are also super beneficial for your skin and so can be used as an all over hair and body soap.

When you opt for our tallow-based shampoo bars, you're not just treating your hair and scalp – you're also showing some love to the planet. As will all of our products, we do not use any unnecessary chemicals, additives, fragrance oils, colours or preservatives, and aim to reduce plastic use as much as reasonably possible, so lather up guilt-free, knowing you're reducing waste and toxins one wash at a time.

One of the advantages of our crapfree shampoo bars is the confidence in knowing that we use only the essential, clean, safe, natural ingredients; commercial shampoos, on the other hand, it's often challenging to decipher the long list of ingredients.

Commercial shampoos and conditioners, often contain harsh chemicals that can strip the hair of its natural oils and more often than not contain synthetic polymers (plastics), or "liquid plastics," like silicones (dimethicone, cyclomethicone).

Commercial shampoos and conditioners will often include plastics like acrylates and copolymers to act as thickening agents and film-forming agents.  Acrylates, and copolymers are also used to give hair shine and a coating effect. Some hair care products also contain plastic microbeads, like polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), which can be used as exfoliants or scrubbers.

Other common plastic ingredients include Polyethylene (PE), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), Nylon (PA), Polypropylene (PP) and Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because commercial shampoos and conditioners use ‘plastics’ and other harsh chemicals, there may be a transitional period when switching to our crapfree handmade shampoo bars. During the testing of our shampoo bars, a few people experienced this but most did not (depending on their hair health and products previously used).  

This transition is because our crapfree shampoo bars first need to remove the plastic coating from your hair (this may take a few washes). Once the plastic coating is washed away, our crapfree shampoo bars need to work their magic by naturally moisturising each and every strand, and combatting any damage that the harsh chemicals have done to your hair,

In some cases, this process might leave your hair dry and “straw like”. If this does occur, please be patient, it is only temporary whilst the natural moisturising properties of the oils are working to penetrate the hair and moisturise it properly.

Anti-inflammatory compounds help calm irritated or inflamed skin. Antioxidants help protect cells from free radical damage and oxidative stress. Helps treat dandruff, soothe an itchy scalp, and strengthen hair follicles to reduce hair fall.

• (Country Garden) Lavender Essential Oil: Offers powerful antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative benefits that help clear acne, soothe irritation, and promote healing. Active compounds like linalool reduce redness, swelling, and discomfort from conditions like eczema and rosacea. Hydrates dry areas without triggering excess oil production, making it useful for most skin types. Promotes hair growth, soothe scalp irritation, and reduces microbial buildup.
