Our coasters are lovingly crafter using recycled wood; not only does this save beautiful natural materials from the landfill, but also means that not a single tree is cut down to make them.

Each and every coaster is made the same way, they are expertly cut to size, sanded, beveled, and then treated to yakisugi, (also called shou sugi ban).  Yakisugi is the ancient Japanese art meaning, ‘charring timber with fire’, not only does this process produce an incredible dark charcoal colour, accentuating the beauty of the natural grain, but also prevents insect attack, rot and weathering.

Our coasters do not receive any chemical, oil or petrol-based treatments.  You can however, enhance the natural beauty of the wood further by applying a wood stain of your choice and/or finish off your coasters with a protective sealer to ensure further longevity and resistance to moisture.

To keep your wooden coasters looking their best, avoid soaking them or using harsh chemicals, as this can damage the wood. When not in use, store your coasters in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping or discoloration.
